Sony on Tuesday announced that it would immediately slash the prices of its PlayStation 3 by $100 in a bid to jumpstart sagging sales of its video game console. Additionally, the company will deliver a new "extremely streamlined" version of the PlayStation 3 in September; current versions of the console are tank-like and enormous.
In late 2006 and early 2007, a PS3 was very difficult to come by. Just as a PS4 is hard to find now. What's even more interesting is that Sony explicitly states in its Safety and Support manual that the system will accept any 2.5" SATA hard drive, which will eliminate any user cries of storage limitations like what Xbox 360 owners are experiencing.
