Renison University College is a public college with a strong affiliation with the Anglican Church of Canada. It is located in Waterloo, Ontario and is affiliated with the University of Waterloo. Renison College was incorporated on January 14, 1959, by letters patent of the Province of Ontario.

History

The College was named in memory of The Most Reverend Robert John Renison, 1875-1957, a former Metropolitan of Ontario and Archbishop of the Anglican diocese of Moosonee. In July 2008, it gained permission to expand its name to Renison University College, reflecting its close status to the University of Waterloo.

Academics

On July 1, 1960, Renison became an affiliated college with the University of Waterloo, having the right to offer courses and undergraduate programmes in Arts and the Social Sciences for credit towards the Bachelor of Arts degree of the University. It has also developed programs in East Asian Studies, Studies in Islam and a post-B.A. Bachelor of Social Work program as well as a new Master of Social Work degree offered on-line with an emphasis on health. It has an English Language Institute, a Renison Institute of Ministry, and is home to the University of Waterloo's Confucius Institute.
